Afghanistan saffron has been ranked number one in the world for the ninth time by the International Taste and Quality Institute (iTQi) in Brussels.
On its Facebook page, the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MoAIL) wrote saffron from Herat was tested in the laboratory of the institute.
The ministry said every year samples were taken from different countries by iTQi in order to determine the quality of saffron.
The International Taste and Quality Institute has been testing and recognising different foods globally every year.
