Three people have been killed and three others injured as a result of a clash between residents and security personnel on a land dispute in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Friday.
Qureshi Badloan, deputy head of the provincial Information and Cultural Affairs Department, said: “The clash erupted on Thursday evening in the Kabul Camp area of Jalalabad City on land dispute.”
“Local Kochi residents tried to stop the construction of a retaining wall of 250 acres of land that belongs to Nangarhar Custom Department, three people were killed and three others injured due to the clash,” he added.
Local Kochi residents took to the road and staged a protest due to which the Torkham-Jalalabad Road was blocked for two hours.
He said it could not be ascertained who was responsible for the causalities, investigations in this regard were underway but the situation had returned to normalcy and the road was opened for traffic.
