Three policemen were killed and five others injured when a bomb-rigged motorcycle hit their convoy in northeastern Badakhshan province on Tuesday, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said.
Badakhshan Information and Culture Director Zabihullah Amiri told Pajhwok Afghan News a sticky bomb affixed to a motorbike was detonated in Jozon area of Faizabad city at 11:00am today.
He said the blast targeted a security forces’ convoy en route to destroy poppy crop.
Meanwhile, MoI spokesman Mufti Abdul Matin Qane wrote on his X handle that three policemen died and five others were injured in the explosion and security forces were investigating the incident.
