About 80 earthquakes and aftershocks jolted the eastern coast of Taiwan, including the capital city of Taipei, on Monday night.
The biggest tremor had a magnitude of 6.3 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale, the Taiwanese Meteorological Authority announced.
Reuters reported the quakes were centred largely on the rural eastern county of Hualien.
The aftershocks were felt in Taipei. So far, no information is available about casualties.
On April 3, a magnitude 7.2 temblor shook the country and people were warned about the possible rise of Tsunami. Taiwan has since been jolted by hundreds of aftershocks.
