US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is due in Beijing today (Wednesday) to discuss a range of bilateral, regional and global issues with Chinese officials.
“Blinken will travel to the People’s Republic of China (PRC) April 24-26,” the US State Department said in a statement.
Blinken will meet senior Chinese officials in Shanghai and Beijing on bilateral, regional and global issues, including the crisis in the Middle East, Russia’s war against Ukraine, cross-Strait issues, and Chinese ships’ aggressive maneuvers in the South China Sea.
According to the statement, Blinken will also discuss ongoing work to fulfill the commitments made by Presidents Biden and Xi at the Woodside Summit in November.
On resuming counternarcotics cooperation, military-to-military communication, artificial intelligence and strengthening people-to-people ties, he will reiterate the importance of the US and the China responsibly managing competition, even in areas where the two countries disagree.
