Heavy rains and flash floods killed 20 people in Oman and one in the United Arab Emirates where travel was disrupted, reports said on Thursday.
According to New York Times on Thursday, relentless storms first hit Oman, killing 20 people and then killed another person in the UAE.
The Times quoted meteorological officials as saying the rainstorm began on Sunday from Al-ain and then spread to the entire country on Tuesday.
It was the largest rainfall in 75 years history of the UAE, which caused delays in flights at airports and power suspension in some other parts of the country.
Government offices and schools have also been shut in parts of Oman and the UAE.
According to experts, heavy rainfall in some Arab countries is caused by the unprecedented global warming.
