Iran has fired hundreds of drones and ballistic missiles in a retaliatory attack on Israel, media reports said on Sunday.
Earlier in the month, at least seven Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) members had been killed in an Israel airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.
The Israeli military’s spokesman, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, said Iran launched a massive attack with more than 200 drones and missiles on Israel.
He said Iran fired scores of drones, cruise and ballistic missiles, with the vast majority intercepted outside Israel’s borders.
He added warplanes intercepted more than 10 cruise missiles alone, also outside Israeli airspace.
Iran’s Defence Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani warned that any country that allowed Israel to use its airspace or territory for attacking Iran would face a “decisive response”.
Iran had vowed revenge since the April 1airstrike in Syria, with Tehran accusing Israel of being responsible. But Israel hasn’t commented yet on it.
