At least 29 people have been killed and three others injured as a result of a blaze at a nightclub in the central Istanbul city of Turkey, an official said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Turkish state news agency Anadolu said the fire erupted in a basement of a 16-story building in Besiktas area on Tuesday, but the cause is not clear yet.
About 29 people were killed and three others injured in the fire. Istanbul Mayor Davt Gul told media all of the victims were construction workers.
He said: “Turkish authorities have detained eight people in connection with the fire, including the business manager of the nightclub, its accountant and partners …”
