Afghanistan’s Ashihara Karate team has won the second place by winning 18 medals in the Aura Asia World Championships in Iran.
A dozen countries participated in the fourth round of the Aura World Championship, which began in Tehran on January 23 and ended on Friday.
Afghanistan Ashihara Karate Federation Secretary General Abdul Mateen Firdous told Pajhwok Afghan News 13 national athletes, one referee and one coach took part in the competitions.
He said 12 Ashihara karate athletes, Afghan refugees, also participated and won the second place by bagging nine gold, four silver and five bronze medals.
The event featured 12 countries including Afghanistan, India, Iran, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Germany, Syria, Iraq, Tajikistan, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
In the championships, Iran emerged first, Afghanistan second and Pakistan third, Firdous concluded.
