New Zealand have beaten Afghanistan by one wicket in their second match at the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup at the Buffalo Park in East London.
Afghanistan’s future stars won the toss and opted to bat first. They were bowled out for a paltry 91. Jamshid Zadran top-scored with 22 from 32 balls, according to Afghanistan Cricket Board.
An easy chase was expected of New Zealand, but the Black Caps struggled against Afghan spinners.
For Afghanistan, Allah Ghazanfar took three wickets, Khalil Ahmed and Arab Gul Momand captured two each.
This was Afghanistan’s second consecutive defeat in the tournament. Earlier, Pakistan had crushed them by 181 runs in their first match.
Afghanistan will take on Nepal in their next match on January 26 at the same venue.
