Canada has evacuated 319 Afghan nationals in a charter flight from Pakistan to Toronto, the Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship Canada (IRCC) said on Saturday.
IRCC wrote on its X page: “Today (Saturday), 319 Afghan nationals arrived in Vancouver on a charter flight from Pakistan. They will continue their journey to approximately 26 communities across Canada, including Ottawa, Surrey and Toronto.”
According to IRCC, Canada has met its goal of welcoming at least 40,000 refugees and vulnerable Afghans since August 2021, and work continues to process eligible applications already received.
IRCC confirmed that 314 Afghan refugees have reached Toronto on a charter flight from Pakistan on Friday.
