Iran deported about 520,000 illegal Afghan refugees from northeastern Razavi Khorasan province via Dogharon border terminal during the past nine months, Iranian police confirmed on Wednesday.
Razavi Khorasan border police chief Sardar Majeed Shah told IRNA news agency that 520,000 illegal Afghan refugees were identified and deported via Dogharon.
He said illegally residing foreigners had created problems for Iran and they would be identified and deported to their countries.
Razavi Khorasan province shares a 302-kilometer border with Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Siavash Aghajani, General Manager of Gilan Cooperative, Labor and Social Welfare, said 507 illegal Afghan workers had been arrested in solar year 1402 across the country.
Pakistan has also evicted about 500,000 Afghan refugees after the November 1 deadline for undocumented Afghan refugees to leave the country expired.
