Indonesia has hosted a workshop in support of an international conference on Afghan women’s education (ICAWE).
The conference — Education for Her, Progress for All — within the framework of a unified effort is aimed to address the challenges to education for Afghan women.
Addressing participants of the workshop,a Qatari diplomat said his country underscored the significance of Afghan women’s right to education.
Director of Asian Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yousefbin Sultan Laram called education a critical step towards safeguarding women’s fundamental rights and dignity.
In a statement from the foreign ministry in Doha, he said education empowered women to practice their rights by playing a role in build their future.
The State of Qatar would remain a strong proponent for women’s right to education, the official was quoted as saying.
His Indonesian counterpart, JatmikoPrasetyo underlined the need for unwavering international support, community education and globalpartnerships to secure funding, as well as digital and technological innovations.
He called for customising safe zones by executing policies seeking to protect the right of women and girls to education.
Organised by the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS), the workshop was attended by experts, international organisations and stakeholders, who spoke about hurdles toAfghan women’s access to education.
The workshop’s outcomes will be submitted to policymakers and thought leaders at the two-day Doha Forum,beginning on Monday.
