Afghan citizens in Pakistan could return to Afghanistan on the bases of their National Identity Card (NIC), an official said on Saturday.
Torkham Township Commissar Esmatullah Yaqoubi confirmed the agreement with Pakistani official reached on Friday night in this regard.
They assured officials in Pakistan to allow Afghans living in Pakistan without legal documents to enter Afghanistan on the bases of their NIC.
Local officials termed the move effective and emphasized this policy should be continued beyond Edi.
Ahmad Shah, the resident of Nangarhar, said his brother went to Pakistan for work but he did not have legal documents and was unable to come back to the country.
“We are very happy our brother would soon return to the country,” he said.
He said efforts should be made to allow Afghans go and come to Pakistan on the bases of NIC.
