A Turkish company has expressed its willingness to produce locomotives in Afghanistan in return for minerals.
The Afghanistan Railways Authority (ARA) wrote on its twitter that ARA head Mullah Bakht Rahman Sharafat paid a technical visit to Turkey’s Kardemir steel production company yesterday as per the agenda of the 31st meeting of the Middle Eastern branch of the Regional Assembly for the Middle East (UICRAME).
Kademir, one of the leading steal producers of Turkey, also manufactures locomotives, train wheels, boogies and other related parts.
SarkanAtamir, the head of Kademir, said the company was ready to produce locomotives for Afghanistan in exchange for mineral riches.
In response to his proposal, the ARA head said the proposal will be discussed with the Islamic Emirate (IE) leaders.
