About 35 ancient artifacts have been found in the Minaret of Jam area of western Ghor province, an official said on Tuesday.
An Information and Culture Department official said: “Work has lately been underway on strengthening the Minaret of Jam under the supervision of archaeologists.”
Mullah Nizamuddin Ibrahimi said 15 metal coins and 20 other monuments were found as a result of excavation in the area. They seem to date back to the Ghori era.
The newly-found coins and artifacts were handed over the local museum in the presence of the Maulvi Abdul Hai Zaeem, director of information and culture.
